I am trying to find out what a part of a castle is called. I'm talking about the place where archers were placed to defend the castle, they were able to shoot their arrows while being protected by the design |

LOOPHOLES OR MEUTRIERES
The defense of the castles was from the walls, gateways and towers. The introduction
of loopholes was at the end of the 12th. Century. They enabled the defenders to
shoot at the enemy outside the castle while they remained unseen and safe from
attack from behind the walls. .Different styles of loopholes.
This information was on this website...perhaps it was added after you asked this question...but there you have it...theres your answer...good luck!!
